Dichotomy
Mission Statement: Dichotomy is an open forum for folks to discuss their thoughts on identity, whatever form it may take, and a place to challenge society's rigid categories of identity by exploring personal experiences with identity formation. It is a paper and web forum open to poetry, prose, music & film reviews, photography, etc.

“A borderland is a vague and undetermined place created by the emotional residue of an unnatural boundary. It is in a constant state of transition. The prohibited and forbidden are its inhabitants. Los atravesados live here: the squint-eyed, the perverse, the queer, the troublesome, the mongrel, the mulatto, the half-bred, the half dead; in short, those who cross over, pass over, or go through the confines of the ‘normal.’”

* Gloria Anzaldua, Borderlands: La Frontera

Note from the Editor:
My intention for Dichotomy is for people to explore what their identity means to them and how society attempts to create contradictions & specific, rigid categories or identity. These contradictions often act as another way to separate people from each other and place them in opposition, creating a category of "normal" and "other." Dichotomy is a home for the "other."
